Are you still looking for the best lash glue? Well, look no further - we're about to share the secrets of getting the BEST out of any lash glue!
Every day we come across hundreds of lash technicians complaining about their lash glues, be it in forums, Facebook groups, or our own CS inbox. The truth is, in most cases of poor lash retention, it is nothing to do with the brand or type of the eyelash adhesive. Most retention problems are caused by incorrect usage or incorrect storage of lash glue.
We’ve rounded up our top 5 tips to help you look after your glue correctly and get the most out of it!
TIP 1: DON’T OVERSTOCK YOUR GLUE!
We understand that it’s probably easier for most of you to do one big order from your eyelash supplier once every 6 months, but this might be a problem for your glue. The shelf life of an unopened glue is up to 6 months. If you buy 4-5 bottles at the same time, the last 2 bottles that you'll open will probably be out of date.
Make sure you store all unopened glues in a cool place. This could be a fridge or perhaps a wooden drawer in a basement. For extra protection against humidity, we recommend storing your glue in an adhesive thermopack or an airtight container.
Remember! The temperature shouldn't be just cool, it should also be constant. Big changes in air temperature can cause condensation inside the bottle can affect the glue properties.
Once you have opened the glue it WILL start to polymerise inside of the bottle very quickly. So it's very important to keep your adhesive away from heat, direct sunlight, and moisture. You can use a jar of rice, aluminium package with silica gel or an airtight container to store your lash glue.
As soon as you open your glue, make sure you write down the date it's been opened. You can write it on the last page of your appointment book or simply write it on the lash tape and stick it to the bottle. If you want your adhesive to be fresh and work at its optimum, we advise you to change it every 3-4 weeks.
Before each new drop, shake the bottle to make sure all ingredients are mixed well together. An indicator of "poor shake" is clear glue coming out of the bottle. For best results, we recommend using a glue shaker. Here's why:
