One quick Google search will show you that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of eyelash extensions training courses available, so how can you possibly go about picking the best lash course for your needs when you’re only just getting started in the lash industry? Luckily for you, we’ve been around the block a few times and have gathered some expert advice to help you choose the right lash technician training.
First things first, you should consider what you actually want to get out of your lash extensions training. Are you interested in beauty treatments as a whole, or are you looking specifically for a professional eyelash extensions qualification?
While we’d never discourage anyone from pursuing beauty as a whole — London Lash exists because our Founder Hanna took a beauty course at college and fell in love with eyelash extensions — there is a lot to be said for specialising in one particular field. Choosing a dedicated lash extension course allows you to gain in-depth knowledge, hands-on skills, and confidence right from the start.
It’s also important to consider how much time you can spare. Most eyelash extension courses take place over one or two days, meaning you can get qualified quickly, sharpen your skills fast, and start offering lash treatments to paying clients much sooner.

In the UK, to gain insurance for eyelash extensions treatments, you must hold an accredited lash technician certificate. When we say “accredited,” we mean a lash course approved by a recognised awarding body that understands the treatment inside and out.
All London Lash training courses are accredited by ABT (Associated Beauty Therapists), and this accreditation is clearly stated on the certificate you receive after successfully completing your lash training course.
It’s also worth noting that to qualify in Volume lash extensions or Russian Volume lashes, you must first be certified in Classic lash extensions for a minimum of three months and hold insurance for both treatments if you’re working in a salon, from home, or as a mobile lash technician.
Before we start, it’s important to note that we’re talking specifically about what’s covered in London Lash eyelash extension courses, as we have the most insight into how they’re delivered.
Your lash trainer will begin by teaching you how to create a safe and professional working environment, whether you’re in a salon, working from home, or operating as a mobile Lash Tech. You’ll then receive an in-depth introduction to the London Lash product range, learning why each product is used and how to achieve the best results with professional lash supplies.
Once you’re confident with products, you’ll move on to lash mapping and styling — one of the most important skills for creating customised eyelash extension sets that suit different eye shapes and client preferences. Small changes in placement can completely transform a client’s look, making this a favourite part of the course for both trainers and students.
You’ll then begin practising lash isolation and eyelash extension application, a technique that requires precision and patience. This is why London Lash keeps class sizes small, ensuring you receive plenty of one-to-one guidance from your trainer.
After lunch, you’ll work on a live model — ideally a friend — which allows you to build confidence, refine your technique, and capture your very first lash portfolio photos, essential for attracting clients and growing your lash business.

As mentioned earlier, an accredited eyelash extensions certificate is essential to gain insurance and begin offering professional lash treatments — but how do you actually receive it?
For advanced lash courses, such as Russian Volume lash training, certificates are often awarded on the day. However, for your first lash extensions course, it’s common to complete case studies followed by a final assessment with your trainer.
This ensures your skills are polished, your confidence is high, and your portfolio is strong before launching your career as a certified Lash Technician.
