Every year we find ourselves bombarded with Black Friday deals, tempting us and encouraging us to purchase items that we have had our eye on...
But where did this crazy phenomenon come from?
The London Lash Pro team decided to do some research into the origins of Black Friday to give you curious cats the lowdown!
Black Friday History
“Black Friday” was a term first coined by police in 1960s Philadelphia! It referenced the chaotic day after Thanksgiving where shoppers would flood to the city causing retail chaos!!! Shoplifting, fights – you name it, it happened!
We like to think that our Black Friday’s today are a bit more refined… especially when you can shop online for your products – you don’t have to leave the comfort of your own sofa!
Despite its huge marketing potential, Black Friday only made its way across the pond to the U.K in 2010!
However, that hasn’t stopped us going crazy for the retail event! Last year, Brits spent a whopping £9.4 BILLION pounds on Black Friday weekend 2021, while shoppers in the US spent $8.9 billion dollars online alone!
Just imagine all the London Lash goodies you could purchase with that money…
What rhymes with Friday?
G&T! Well not quite… But 12% of shoppers admitted to tackling the Black Friday sales while drunk!
That figure is based on footfall alone… we couldn’t give a figure for how many glasses of prosecco are knocked back whilst browsing the London Lash Black Friday sale, but we reckon it's a pretty impressive number...
London Lash BFCM Lowdown
Did you know our best selling product during last year’s Black Friday madness was our Flexie adhesive? Closely followed by Power Bond lash adhesive and our eternally best selling Mayfair lashes!
Last year we were a little more prepared by how many of you would be adding Flexie to your cart than we were in 2020, when we sold out of Flexie TWICE!
So if you have your eyes on purchasing any of the above products you best be raring to go!
